BUDGET.....

There are two kind of people in this world .....
one who takes budget seriously.....others who dont..
i fall in the latter category....
for my last 22 yrs i never gave importance to BUDGET. i wud only come to know about them when i c our FM's photo on front page of newspapers and lot of news on tax, prices, market around him
but this year it was different.
coz i m working now i was supposed to give importance to BUDGET.
morning when i boarded the train the atmosphere was different. i cud hear people making their own BUDGET as if FM's gonna ask them their views. but i cud see them happy and that made me feel good. like everyday i prefered bryan adams " everything i do" than their talks.
at office i had a cup of tea and waited for the BUDGET talks to begun.thanks to my manager we where busy with our works rather talks.
after lunch like everyday i went for a walk.but this time the scenario was different.people whom i used to c laughing or glaring at gals was busy going through afternoon papers.paper vendors were happier than INDIAN cricket team after they won the australian series, probably coz their papers were sold out.last time when i saw this number of people reading was during my board exams outside our examination school.
but even at that time i preferd scanning gals and their beauty.
when i boarded my train for return journey, the BUDGET talks were more heavy and was intensified.but this time i cudnt ignore them as my phone battery was low ( so no more bryan adams). people where talking bout taxes, returns blah blah and also things which i have never heard.i was feeling like an alien in the world of finance.
" i have gone through this all my life and trust me, we are not at all affected by BUDGET"
there was silence in whole compartment.these words came from a old person sitting on window seat on other side.
" tell me what differnce had the last BUDGET bring in ur life?".
i easily ignored the question.others dint had an answer , so ignored the question.
" old people are insane" i heard from the person standing next to me. thn people continued with the BUDGET conversation.but i cudnt, so started scanning chicks from the grill.
During dinner time my family speaks bout whole day.my dad, my sis,my mom, all shares that days experience. i usually dont have any thats why remains silent.
but that day i shared that old man's view with them.
" what crap, thats so untrue. we are affected by BUDGET. the price of gas cylinder, fuels, vehicles change after every BUDGET." my dad spatted.
i ignored the last two reasons ( fuels, vehicles) as they are of no use for our family. but gas cylinder, yes, we are affected from BUDGET.
last week on saturday i was njoying a chat with gal in orkut. suddenly the door bell rings.
" mom look whos it."
" u see, i m cooking."
so i ran to open the door.when i did open, i saw a man in red uniform with sweat and grt muscular body. first thing that striked my mind was is he a spartan from 3oo movie.
" gas"
"haan ek minute"
i wnt to kitchen, rolled out old cylinder and brought it to the door.
he exchanged the old one with new and adjusted it in the trolly.
he gave me the bill.
i saw 306.25 .i took moms purse out and gave him 307.
suddenly his expressions changed.i thought did i insult him in someways. i cud see anger and frustration in his face.
"memsab nahi hai kya"
"haan ek min....mom"
mom came out.asked him reason.
"kya hai memsab yeh"
mom checks out money from his hand and says " sorry bhaiya, usse pata nahi hai"
she gave him another 3 rupees.
mom closed the door.i asked why did she give him extra money.
"bechara hai woh, kitna weight utha tha hai"
" mom but thats his job"
suddenly i went back to the BUDGET day. i heard those words again.
" we are not affected by BUDGET"
i thought its so true. we never gets affected by that. what would have happened if gas cylinders price was increased to 308.my mom would have paid him 310.
so does we follow the BUDGET.
no
its a story of a middle class family.ever thought what might be taking place in multinational companies.
yesterday when i was returning from 5.59 titwala fast. i saw that old man again.we dint speak. but i think words where flowing from our minds.
i smiled ( you where right old man)
he smiled( i know gentleman).

liked your blog mallu. wrote it well. not that i am qualified to make a judgement on the blog but i beg to differ on your opinion of the budget. It does affect the common man.. the so called "middle class". you accept that you havent taken into consideration the affect of vehicles and fuel prices. Even the middle class do buy vehicles. The excise duty levied by govt. can affect the price of a vehicle significantly. Those are just singular aspects that you and me considered. There are many angles to this. But for the CHILDS VIEW i would accept your judgement wholeheartedly.
